Rep. John Sims Jr. chosen to serve on SLC Committee

State Rep. John Sims Jr.,  of Flemingsburg, has been appointed to serve on the Southern Legislative Conference’s Agriculture and Rural Development Committee.

Sims recently received the appointment to serve on the SLC committee from House Speaker Jeff Hoover. The first-time legislator from the state’s 70th House District in Bracken, Fleming, Mason and Robertson counties said the position will allow him to protect and promote the state’s more than $5 billion agricultural industry.

“Kentucky’s agricultural community is central to our commonwealth’s overall economic health and heritage,” Sims said. “I look forward to strategizing on policy issues relating to how we can better support and advocate on behalf of our family farms and our entire agricultural industry.
